Day 7: Primary Reading Seizures

Hello Monday!

One of my favorite past times is reading and writing.  Today’s seizure is a primary reading seizure which is related to reflex epilepsy.  These seizures are triggered purely by stimuli and in this case it’s reading books.

Secondary reading seizures are the same as primary; however, people with these seizures may also have unprovoked seizures.

This type of epilepsy tends to occur between the ages of 12-25.  During the seizure the individual’s jaw can click or jerk.  If the reading continues then a grand mal may occur.

There is often a history of reflex epilepsy within the family and these particular seizures can be suffered by other family members.
