Day 3: Atonic Seizures

Atonic seizures are another type of brief seizure.  Normally lasting less than 15 seconds it is a variation of generalized seizure.  Unlike the myoclonic or tonic seizures where muscles contract, the atonic see the muscles become limp; therefore, the individual drops or falls to the ground.  They also go by the name of akinetic, drop attacks or seizures.

Similar to the febrile, these are predominantly to be found in children, although it is impossible to rule out appearances in adults as well.

The seizures themselves are rarely damaging, however, the injuries sustained from the fall may create the issues.
